Description

Adult: 12-14 mm long, integument green, smooth and marked with numerous, small dark punctures; margin of pronotum yellowish-red; antennae 5-segmented, the 2nd and 3rd segments of equal length and the 4th and 5th reddish. Eggs: green and laig in clusters. Nymph: green with lateral openings of the stink glands at the ventral side of the metathorax, near the base of hind legs.

Biology and Damage 

It is very common and polyphagous species. Adults overwinter, taking on a sombre (and even sometimes brown) coloration and resume activity in April.They feed and then mate. Eggs are deposited on the leaves of host plants.  Embriyonic development lasts 15-21 days; the nymphs passes through 5 instars, the whole process lasting 5-6 weeks.There is only one generation per year. Hazelnut  fruits become small and light brown. Kernel  are shrinked and gives bitter taste.
